Questions, answered
How is the monthly comparison calculated?
For each home, add monthly rent and maintenance to the round-trip commute cost multiplied by office days in the month. Other household costs and one-time moving costs are excluded.
Should I enter one-way or round-trip travel?
Enter the cost and minutes for the entire daily round trip, including first-mile and last-mile travel. Use a realistic door-to-door estimate.
How does hybrid work affect the result?
Use the number of days you actually expect to travel to the office that month. Fewer office days reduce commute spending and time; rent and maintenance remain the same.
Does it use live traffic or current metro fares?
No. This calculator uses the amounts and travel times you enter. For station-based home search, use the separate metro planner. Neither result is a guarantee of journey time.
